Dear Friends,
It is my pleasure to announce the start of the IAOMAS Honour Roll. This is a award/recognition mechanism to promote the interests of IAOMAS as a whole and the characteristics that this organisation values.
This award should in no way impede on anyone's martial art system or detract from the skills that your instructor is attempting to develop in you.
The honour roll theme for this year is FRIENDLINESS.
Aside from the vision of bringing the world closer together, IAOMAS also stands for friendship amongst all martial artists. It doesn't matter whether our skills have to be tested or we engage in aggressive training or we try be better than our opponent. Friendship means that we respect each other, accepting each other despite differences, and to reach out and to understand what other people are doing.
In doing upholding this trait, IAOMAS members worldwide have forged one of the strongest organisations and networks in the world. This is arguably the most important trait binding the diversity amongst everyone here in IAOMAS.
Note to Instructors/School Owners/President of Student Body: please facilitate a voting process in which to nominate one person from each school (if you have more than one branch, then one student per branch). The recommended way to do this is to coordinate a student voting process; a possible way is to get each student to pick two students that reflect the above trait. You then can do a tally of votes in confidence and pick the one that has been voted the most times. If there is a tie, you can choose between the two at your own discretion.
Each person voted per school should then be submitted to the instructor's forum including:
1. Name
2. School (Branch)
3. Country
4. Student's Email Address
An honour roll will then be created on iaomas.com that highlights worldwide students that have achieve the recognition of their peers for upholding a value that IAOMAS highly values.
Students can then have the honour to reference honour roll achievements on their martial arts (or other) CV.
As a side note: By 'Student', you can extend the meaning to any member of your school with the core exception of the governing chief instructor or in the absence of that person, then the acting chief instructor or branch instructor. Meaning you CAN vote for assistant instructors if you extend the meaning of 'student' to extend to cover any person training in the martial arts.
All votes should be submitted by end of first week March.
For more information, please email me directly colin@iaomas.com.
