just curious really as to why new members (mainly) find it necessary to "hide" their email addresses within the forum?
I have noticed quite a number of the emails are not shown - if for example it is for privacy purposes,, there are ways of generating free generic emails such as yahoo or whatever which could be disgarded if necessary.
any new members care to enlighten me?

I have always hidden mine after reading that robots search the Internet for any e-mail addresses within websites, and use whatever it finds to enable said addresses to be bombarded with spam -- something I don't particularly want after having changed my e-mail address after getting at least fifty unsolicited messages each day.
Spam may be outlawed within the EU, but most of it seems to come from the States, where it is outside the scope of the ban introduced in November 2003.

let me say that i have a "lot" (20-30) of email addresses and i do get "spam" to some of them, however the spam i get is caused by promotion of my websites to search engines and the emails picked up are the ones offered as "contact points".
getting spam through a forum such as this is highly unlikely i think. anyone?
