What a shocking day in the UK. 4 terrorist bombs went off around London, lots of people killed and injured.
London came to a stand still as trains and buses were stopped as most went off in packed stations and one on a bus.
Stange Weirdly enough I rarely if ever use the trains (except when I go into london) or rarely travel into central London and today of all days Ray Pullman and myself had just arranged to meet.. up central London! Bloody weird!
Rays okay, though I couldnt ring him early on as they (the networks) stopped personal mobile calls into London, though I managed to text him (!!!) and after a few hours he rang me back and comfirmed he was okay.

MY GOD! I was watching the news and thought 9/11 was happening all over again. I immediately thought of you today my friend, and said the same thing - Stuart is fine he never uses the trains! Most importantly you (and Ray) are fine. I only hope nobody we know has been hurt or killed. Our thoughts go out to you and your fellow citizens, neighbors and friends in this time of chaos and pain.

I'm still OK. Although I usually take the train on the few occasions when I go to London (cheaper overall, plus you don't have to worry about traffic and the congestion charge), I've never gone there before 09:00, and the first two explosions in the Underground occurred just before that, so if I'd been going to London today I'd have known about it and not even attempted to go.

Thanks for your concern guys. That's twice now I have been close to the action but the Lord's good hand of providence has been upon the situation. I visited the USA in Oct 2001 due a last minute change of dates by the folks I was visiting. The original dates had included a trip to Manhattan on Sep 11th!
I fortunately was able to get a ride off some folks who were travelling North to the airport at Luton. Driving through London was very weird with thousands, perhaps millions, of bewildered people walking, sirens of police cars and ambulances breaking the otherwise eerie stillness. After encountering numerous roads taped off, detours etc we eventually got onto the M1 motorway 2.5 hours later. I made my flight ok.
The folks who I was with in London were absolutely magnificent in their efforts for those attending the conference. They certainly went far beyond the extra mile in the assistance they gave.
And the bombers - nil illigitimus carborundum!
