To be honest I'm all up for the broken windows theory. I'd nick anyone for absolulty anything not out of status but because, it's the law. I've broken the law but if I get caught, I expect to be punished. I won't like it, but I deserve it. Nuff said. Thats the thing. Nothing wrong with taking someone in when they've broken the law, but it gets a bit extreme when they book you for something they really shouldn't. A mate of mine has a 200SX. Yes, its rather loud, but well within limits, yet he gets booked once every few months and has to take it to the RTA (Road and traffic authority) to have the 'yellow sticker' removed. He never does a thing to the car.. just takes it in as it was when he was booked and it passes. Things like that. This wasn't on a freeway (our equiv of a motorway I think), it was on a normal two lane country road with about 10 metres of gravel to each side of the bitumen(sp) before the bush starts. Exactly the same sort of stretch of road they have on the adds that say "dont risk driving fatigued - just pull over and rest" or words to that effect. I know its best to use rest areas. But they rarely pop up very often around here *Edited because it said "pregnant doguman" instead of what the road is made of

That's Stupid Trav, what is their justification for stopping and putting this yellow sticker on, if the car then checks out when it is taken to the station? Cant he get them done for harrasment by booking him for the same offence when he is not comitting an offence?!?! ? I think there are mupetts working in every job, it is just more obvious and annoying when they are in a job like Law Enforcement.. the stupidity runs through all the way to the top though where it is at it's worst..! Marc; LOL - "THAT's none of your business you filthy stinking racist pig and whats THAT got to do with my application!" Or something to that effect. lol
Okay, fair do's about the sleepy, sleepy incident. Sounds a bit mad as fish to me. Next time you could say "sure thing officer... umm, is it dangerous here or somthing" and maybe they'll tell you why or maybe if you're really lucky they could haul your a$$ of to prision on some trumped up charge because they think you're being cheeky. Ha ha.
When I was a special, we stopped this one car because it looked suspicous. Personally I'd rarther stop ANY random car to make thing fair. The car was suspicous because it had spoilers, blacked out windows and all the usual stuff like that. He'd apparently been pulled over twice this night and once every other night that week. If something sounds or looks dodgy they HAVE to check it out. I could be talking out of my @rse here but I'd imagine most officers arn't knowledgeable on bikes to a$$e$ whether it's legal or not so they let the experts have a gander. It's just a shame more than anything. I can understand when people get hacked off at things like that but this comes down to the argument of whether we have greater security/safty or greater personal freedom.
I mean, tighter security on the internet has stopped and caught many peadophilles but means we are being watched. A freedom I'd gladly sacrifice.

The problem comes about because over here the Police need to meet a certain 'quota' if you will, I guess so that they can show the powers that be that they aint been sitting on there backsides listening to the radio and eating chips all night If its a quiet night, then they need to focus on subjective things - you can't get them for harrasment coz they would just say "well, the car sounded loud enough to ME" and thats that. With things like noise, appearance of vehicle, etc etc its all up to the officer to decide what is ok and whats not. hehe... oh so true..

And all the time they are convincing their superiors that they are not eating chips and donuts by filling their quota of misdemeanors, there are violent crimes going unsolved..!! Not an easy Job I grant you, but you have to question the Ahem.. "logic" Marc ;D

If I see a cop sitting on the side of the road doing their paperwork in their car while a guy speeds by doing 90 in a 55, and I am offended because my tax dollars should be stopping that man...can I sue?

Seriously though, I think that it's a tough Job knowing you can't stop every crime..
I would rather they spent more time on the roads where people actually get killed...

LOL
In the UK the police quantity of paperwork is LUDICROUS. Whilst the majority are backstabbing, two-faced dogs they'd still prefer to be doing hi-vis footpatrol and doing REAL policing but there are so many minor things that need doing immediatly and they would be able to do them aswell if it wasn't for the sodding paperwork.
Urrgh! Annoys the hell outta me. Look, just give me a big stick and I'll show these crooks what it means to be socially acceptable. Or a taser...
