All Members
I thought I would break the ice with this poll, since no one else has done it yet. This poll is designed to help the IAOMAS staff in preparing for the future and dealing with new members. It will help in possibly detecting fraudulant members as well.
I will put a similar one at the Instructor forum just for Instructors and Black Belts.
Our reputation will depend on a lot of support from our member ship.
Sturat, has no knowlege that I am doing this.
We as a whole need to help him with his decision process for new member, after our current dilema.
Vote well my friends.

I voted 1 and 2 to help with who people are.
I also recommend that IAOMAS take the hidden email feature off of the forum. This will help verify who some are and with communications.

I voted email IAOMAS rep, so someone is vouching for him...kind of like cosanostra huh? Seriously though, I do believe there has to be more criteria than just a martial arts bio, e.g. a recommendation from another member. I really think we are TOO open. If anyone can join, then ANYONE will.

Couple of points to think about!
Students cannot join IAOMAS, they become members once their instructor joins their club! So if we are refering to the forum then I believe we should keep it open, but with FULL names, and a small bio on the introductions list.
With regards to instructors/clubs joining.. well... possibly some sort of verification process, maybe a trial term first or similar! I dont really feel its fair (no 1) that some have to be verified, but not indepandents (are we talking about solo clubs here or have I read that wrong!).
In fact, are we just talking about forum membership or membership of IAOMAS as a whole (of which i believe there is a discussion in the Instructors area)

I think we verfication for both IAOMAS listings and forum, but we need several options for verification, if we have a list of 3 acceptable options and they must provide 2,
for example
1). Proof of martial arts history. 2). Current IAOMAS members recomendation 3). Verification from a governing body or other martial arts association ie JKA, BKA etc.
At Bio or proof of MA history can be forged very easily so we need some other way the verify their claims.
Just an idea.

But I agree - full names. I also think small bio on their profile would be easier.

I have included a small profile in my signature. I think it's a great exercise for all martial artists to craft a 'stock quote'. IN the PR industry, a stock quote is used as a small introduction for a speaker or other, and usually appears under the article they've written. The martial arts stock quote can summarize training history, aspirations, specialisation or interesting programs. Instructors can use it to promote campaigns or different training options. Hello!
I think it's an excellent idea that instuctors have been putting their resume (?) as their signature...it's really useful to know who to ask if you have a style related question, aswell as for "certification" purposes! thanks!
