Congratulations to Mr Glen Doecke (IAOMAS Australia) who has regraded for 4th Dan & becoming the first person to achieve a grading under IAOMAS.
Glen agreed to put his 4th dan up on test to test run, validate & fine tune IAOMAS grading via video system.
A full report of the actual systems, the tweaks added because of this can be found in the PROJECTS section.
With regards to the actual grading itself (which must be passed by all three examiners) they had this to say:
Examiner: Tim White, 7th Dan
Molum Combat Arts, Alabama, USA
Glen's Applications of self defense were very well executed.
Even though the video was a little to far away, I could tell the precision in which the techniques were executed.
The Sword Demonstration was very accurate. I graded him on the performance and not the technique. Because he has already been promoted to Yodan.
I did note that his knowledge of the techniques in Japanese were excellent.
Examiner: Alessandro Ashanti, 6th Dan
Full Circle Jujitsu California, USA
His performance was fine for 4th dan. He passed no question. I'd love to be more involved with this process as it evolves. I found it all fun.
Examiner: Anton Murrells, 5th Dan
Zan Shin Kai Karate, Kent, UK
Awaiting feedback
Suffice to say, this examination has helped iron out many things about this system so that it remains of teh highest quality. the grading deliberations took approximatly 2 months (so it wont help speed anyone forward).
Once again congratulations to Glen for (re)passing his fouth dan & to all the grading examiners involved in this 1st test run.
A specially designed Dan grade certificate (designed by our resident art supremo Mr Tim White) is currently being posted via snail mail to all the examiners to personally sign, then onto Glen himself.
Well done Glen.
