hiya peeps! having bit of mental dilemma, got a tournament on the 13th feb, GTI Southern which I am entering, I am also entering one 2 weeks later on the 27th. I have to travel long distances for both. There is a competition on the 20th in wales, which means I would be competing 3 weekends in a row, I know it sounds like a silly thing to do but I am so 'hungry' to compete, i dont want to not do it and regret it, the one is wales is a grand prix that totals at the end of the year. Do you think my performance in the last tournament will be affected if I compete for weekends on the trot? cheers ;D

Luke,
You are young and recover faster than us older guys. If you want to go, just go. See how you do. But, remember, tournaments aren't everything in the Martial Arts. You should be looking for commaradorie, friendships and mentors. This way you will go in the arts. Out of my 20 or so students only 6 us compete on a monthly basis and we are all in the top 10 for the Professional Karate Commission. It is up to you, just don't rely on the sport to carry you through your martail arts journey.

thanks for the advice tim, I will take that on board, I do believe in the martial arts as much if not more than competing, i still love the thrill of a tournament, but as my instructor tells me, one day when you are too old to sparr, you will still do you patterns. I think I will go for the welsh tournament if everyone thinks i will be alright for the final one on the 27th? cheers ;D

Hook in Luke, Tim's correct you will recover quicker than us old guys, also you will find out how much you can push yourself, sometimes its not until you put yourself under pressure that realise what your capable of. Competing is not about winning its about what you learn during the process, about yourself and your competitors. Good luck mate.
