I know that it's been done before, and we all know that karate isn't going to be in the 2012 Olympics. But it is up for consideration for the 2016 one. There is an online petition here and a facebook page here, if anyone is interested. The WKF did do one in 2003, which I support. I know that there is a problem within karate as there is no set "standards" (eg movements in one Shotokan club are slightly different to another Shotokan club, & lets not forget the differences between the different styles), however it would still be great to see karate held up as an art just like Judo & Taekwondo. -Ken

If you are interested in more info, you may also want to contact Master Darren Myers in Virginia Beach, VA. From what I understand, he is directly involved in getting Karate into the Olympics. I hope they do a better job than the embarrassing attempt Tae Kwon Do has proven.

The way I see it is, that Kung Fu/Wu Shu wasn't allowed in the last olympics so I don't think they will do Karate any different. And the last olympics was in China. So, I don't think that Karate stands a chance. It is a wonder that TDK hasn't been been ousted due to last years incident with Cuba.
Just a thought
