I and the White Crane Research Institute recently joined the World Kuoshu Federation under the directorship of Grandmaster Huang, Chien-Liang. As part of this membership, I am currently under evaluation by the Executive Committee of the World Kuoshu Institute. Part of this evaluation involves testimonials attesting to my level of advanced skill in White Crane and martial morality (Wu Te) from people within the martial arts who know me on a personal level. I hereby ask each of you to contact Grandmaster Huang, Chien-Liang via email at twksf@verizon.net recommending me to the World Kuoshu Federation Executive Committee attesting to my skill in White Crane and my martial morality (good character, ethics and spirit). I would greatly appreciate your assistance and participation in this matter. Please send me copies of your emails to the Grandmaster Huang, Chien-Liang regarding myself. Thank you very much for your friendship and for undertaking this on my behalf.

How does one attest to your skill and reputation if one has never met you nor trained with you. I consider this request a little over-zealous and even a little self-centered. Personally, if I were looking for a refference to admittance in any organization I would probably go to people that actually know me face to face and can attest to my personality and attributes and skill. To leave a general request out in the open is foolhardy at best. You may be all that you think you are but how would I know that and why would I just go ahead and offer up a refferance just on your request? strange request indeed.

Hi Tim,
You may not realise this, but many of the Martial Artists on this site (especially the instructors) actually do go out of their way to meet the people on this forum. There have been various seminars in the US, the UK and Australia that have been open to IAOMAS members. I know of several IAOMAS instructors that have been to all three countries for training many times.
In addition, Ron's contributions here surely count towards demonstrating his knowledge and dedication to his art.
Lastly, you're under no obligation to comply with Ron's request.
Bill

Tim thank you for your post (your only one I might add! ;D) Bill is right on. I ask for your views based on that of my contributions towards this board and on-going conversations and communications which I conduct with several members of the IAOMAS from time to time. I have no problems with recommending several of the good people I have met via this board and basing this on their posts and sharing of their art, knowledge and more importantly, martial spirit and morality (Wude). Sir, I think thou protests too much! I think your judgment of me to be a little over the top considering you have not read any of my other posts or shared of your own knowledge in the arts. Others here on this board know me through my contributions and communications. That being said, I wish you well and concur with Bill, you're under no obligation to comply with my request. No gun is being held against your head! Peace out!

Ya cool no offence intended, my wording sucks, sincere appologies. It just came accross differently in the wording of your request to mean that everyone on the forum SHOULD email a recommendation. So mybad, missinterpreted and poorly worded response. I am an experienced Martial Artist as well ( 30 yrs), so i have background to recall from its just an issue with trying to put into print my responses so that they are worded correctly. with time i imagine as long as i dont offend anyone else.....doh. Regards tim ps. i have read other posts of yours and alot of others.

Tim Mate, it's cool, no offence taken. Us "Aussies" are pretty thick skinned! So no worries!
I've been in the arts for over 35 years now so its good to converse with another of similar experience. What arts do you study?

Ron,
Based on your original post, I could see how anyone would be a little put off. Maybe reword your request. I for one could not recommend anyone's skill without seeing them and training with them. I could attest to your martial spirit based on your posts here, but that is about it.

I must admit that I am shy about addressing such a moment. I can't help but think of how little I can offer in the position that I am in at this moment.
I would be willing to send an email describing how I have seen your dedication, and passion for the White Crane style, and your intense hunger for investigation, and further research. These are the strengths that I have seen evident in your postings.
I regret that I cannot attest to your level of skill because I know so little about Martial arts. I cannot judge what I do not know.
As for martial morality, sigh... I do not feel that I am in a position to speak. Who am I to judge someone elses morality?
I believe that it would be far better for someone of higher quality to provide this for you.
I do wish you success in your goal.
