Luke, how are things at your end of the world.
As far as I am concerned, I have been very busy trying to write a book on victimization for abuse women and teaching at my department. I am also competing again this year up til june in the Professional Karate Commission Tournaments. This past weekend I was 1st in the Self Defense Division, 3rd in Kata/Forms, and 3rd in Weapons. This weekend I will have my school association luncheon and hand out some awards. How is that for a come back.
Tim

One of my students is in the hospital today after a hit and run driver smashed into his car less than 100 yards from home! Hopefully it will be nothing more than bruising and he'll back trg soon. When I say hit and run, I mean they smashed into his car and then legged it!!! Oh and the previous night my wife dealt with a man who was climbing our garden fence at 3am (I was fast asleep). The cheeeky beggar said, 'Can I come through your house, I'm running from the Peelers (Police)?' !!!! Incredible!!!!!

Remember in another thread that I've been helping my instructor coach a junior Jitsu Karate Kai class? Well, I helped as usual last night, but last night's class was a grading, so it was very important for all the kids concerned.
It's certainly very odd actually being with the instructors discussing bits about specific students' performances when determining whether or not they have passed or failed, as I'm more used to being judged myself in one (and not having passed one for almost six years).

What do you fail on Antz? Is it the same thing? Do the nerves get to you?

What do you fail on Antz? Is it the same thing? Do the nerves get to you? It's hard to answer that question now, as since I last attempted to grade the Amateur Martial Association (AMA) approved the addition of a second stage of blue to occur between the existing blue belt (my current grading) and brown after the instructors came to the conclusion that the requirements between blue and brown were too steep compared to those of the preceding belts. It's not always the same thing I fail on; I seem to correct the previous fault and get something else wrong in the next grading (last time indecision of stances was the major culprit). Nerves do get to me a little, but I just hate the unnatural nature of gradings. I mean, when you're defending yourself for real you literally don't think about anything or what technique to use, as it all depends on what the attackers do. In a grading, when you're asked, for example, to demonstrate a technique using a joint lock, this obviously goes against that notion, as you then have to think of a technique that uses a joint lock. I much prefer the approach that I've been told they take in the East, when you get the next grade when you've done well enough in general to get it, without having to cope with the pressure of it all having to happen flawlessly on one particular session. Another thing that tends to go wrong in gradings (and lessons in general) is that I often have a blank at the crucial moment and get stuck on what to do.

Well done indeed young fella!!! On the girlfriend front. While I would want you to treat the girl right, as a gentleman should, I will also warn you not to drop off trg because sad as it is they do come and go and before you know it years of trg have been missed. Been there, done that, bought the T shirt etc
